Loop Chomp vs the Chrome Dino Game: What to Play When You Are Bored

Honest takes from a one-tap dev · October 2026

The Chrome Dino game is the most played one button game on Earth because it lives inside the browser everyone already has. Loop Chomp is a free browser game for when the dino stops being enough: the same instant start, plus daily races, boards and real progression. Here is how they compare, honestly.

Every one button game owes something to the little T-Rex. It proved that a game with one input and zero setup can reach everyone. I built Loop Chomp to be just as easy to start, but with a reason to come back tomorrow. Here is the fair comparison.

What the Chrome Dino game is

Google added the T-Rex runner to Chrome in 2014 as the game you get when your internet is down. Press space or tap to jump the cacti, duck the birds that show up later, and keep running while the speed climbs. You can also open it on purpose by typing chrome://dino into the address bar.

It is perfect at what it does: zero loading, zero menus, zero reasons not to play one more run. It is also a game with nothing behind it. No boards, no unlocks, no tomorrow.

What they share

Both start instantly, both use one input, both get faster the longer you last, and both live in the browser. You can learn either in five seconds.

Where they split

The dino runs in a straight line and you only decide when to jump. In Loop Chomp you lap a ring and one tap flips your direction, so you are always choosing which way to go, not just when. Bars park over the track and stay there, which turns every run into a small puzzle about where the safe gaps are.

Then there is everything around the run. Loop Chomp has a daily Sprint with the same ten rounds for every player, Classic boards that pay the top spots coins every night, a Tower of fixed floors, a live 1v1 mode, and coins you earn for skins and arenas. The dino has your high score, until you close the tab.

What Loop Chomp is

Loop Chomp is a free one tap arcade game: a chomper laps a ring, spike bars park over the track, and one tap flips your direction. It runs in any browser with no download or signup, and it is on Google Play. The daily Sprint gives every player the same ten short rounds, the Classic board pays the top spots coins every night, and everything you can buy is cosmetic only.

Which should you play?

Play the dino when your wifi is down. It is the right game for that moment and it always will be.

Play Loop Chomp when you want the same instant start but a reason to come back: a daily race, a board with names on it, and something to show for your runs.
